Process
We will keep you informed at each stage and we’re with you every step of the way!
1. Tear Off
On our first day at your home, we will tear off your old roof. We'll remove all of the existing roofing and trims to prepare the roof structure for a full inspection of the existing conditions and identify any issues. This phase will generate the most debris, which we will haul away for you!
2. Dry Rot
Now that the roofing has been removed, we will inspect your roof structure to ensure that it is at its top functional condition. We will correct any deficiencies eg; dryrot or termite damage, per the price sheet in our proposal. In addition to keeping your home in tip-top condition, these repairs are a requirement to pass inspections.
3. Plywood Sheathing
After all the repairs have been made, it's time to verify the deck. Some homes will need new sheathing, often called plywood. If your home requires this, we will have notified you during the contract process. This phase, when needed, is simply installing new OSB or plywood over your existing substrate.
4. Waterproof Underlayment
The foundation of a waterproof roof, this vital step is the true start to the roofing process. Underlayment is a paper-like material that comes in rolls and is fastened to your roof with staples and cap nails. When properly installed, underlayment can keep your home dry temporarily even without the shingle!
5. Roof Shingles
Shingle installation is the meat and potatoes of the roofing process. During this phase we will install the perimeter and cap metals and the shingles for your project. While we are laying shingles, your roof will begin taking shape quickly. With only the final inspection left, shingling really is the home stretch.
6. Final Inspection
After the completion of your roof replacement, we’ll promptly arrange a final inspection. Though every facet of your roof will have already have passed Conrad Roofing’s own meticulous inspection, we will show your new roof to the building department to demonstrate its top quality craftsmanship and conformance to building codes. Please note that, depending on your city’s regulations, there may have been additional inspections prior to the final. Conrad Roofing will have orchestrated and outperformed all of these inspections along the way!
